Bridgestone Retail Operations has been honored with a PRNews
Corporate Social Responsibility award for the company’s
partnership with the Meals On Wheels Association of
America.
The campaign, “Together, Let’s Drive Away Senior Hunger,” was
recognized in the Nonprofit/Corporate Partnership category at
a ceremony held at the National Press Club in Washington,
D.C.
“We were extremely honored and humbled to receive this award,”
says Matt Hoskins, division president. “We could not be more
proud of our teammates and customers who donate their time and
money to help in the fight to end senior hunger.”
Since October 2009, the company has worked with Meals On
Wheels to help accomplish its goal of ending senior hunger by
increasing awareness, fundraising and recruiting
volunteers.
Initiatives include encouraging employees to help deliver the
meals, conducting in-store promotions to help raise funds and
awareness; communicating about the campaign against senior
hunger through press releases and videos; and providing the
organization’s staff and volunteers with the opportunity to
receive special discounts on their vehicles.
Last year Bridgestone helped raise more than $500,000,
becoming “a driving force behind” the efforts against senior
hunger, according to Steve Muscato, national brand manager.
“We will remain steadfast in our commitment” to assist the
organization, he says.
