Bridgestone's Ecopia EP422 tires have been chosen as original equipment for the Nissan Leaf, an electric car scheduled to go on sale this month.

Designed to be eco-friendly and sized at P205/55R16 89H, the tire offers lower rolling resistance “while still maintaining superior performance in all areas, including safety,” according to the company.

The Ecopia line, first produced in 1991, has an array of diverse applications such as fitments for cars, light trucks, trucks, buses and vans.

The all-season EP422, developed for the North American market, achieves reductions in rolling resistance by employing compounds using Bridgestone’s proprietary NanoPro-Tech material, the company says.

The Leaf’s destined for the European and Japanese markets will be fitted with the Ecopia EP150 in size 205/55R16 91V.
