Pirelli is highlighting its commitment to bring more “green”
products to market at its booth at the Specialty Equipment
Market Association (SEMA) Show, which runs through Nov 5 in
Las Vegas.
The company’s Green Performance strategy is aimed at
developing products and solutions that combine maximum
performance and safety with respect for the
environment.
By 2012 40 percent of Pirelli’s tire production will be
environmentally sustainable, and its current crop of P Zero
UHP (ultra-high performance) and competition tires “are
leading the way” with highly aromatic oil-free (HAOF)
compounds – “proving that Green Performance is the fastest
way ahead,” the company says.
It remains on the Dow Jones Sustainability STOXX and Dow
Jones Sustainability World indices, where the company has
been the leader in the “Autoparts and Tires” sector for four
consecutive years.
Pirelli’s Eco-Sustainability strategy resulted in its
lowering of water consumption levels 12.7 percent, energy
consumption 9.2 percent, and both its CO2 and NOx emissions
by 8.9 percent and 14.9 percent respectively over the last
four years.
Motorsports and car customization are other aspects of the
company’s SEMA presence, featuring in-booth meet and greet
appearances by Chip Foose, Ken Block and Steve
Saleen.
