Yokohama’s two new OTR tires for dump trucks – the RL42 and RB42 – are destined for two distinct job designations: The RL42 is for hard-packed surfaces and job sites where longer hauls are needed, while the RB42 is made for soft or loose surfaces such as mud, sand, gravel and rocks.
“The unique tread and sidewall designs help create specialized tires for specific applications,” says sales director Gary Nash. “Yokohama is the only OTR manufacturer that builds tires to handle specific jobs,” he asserts.
The RL42, which comes in sizes 1800R33 and 2400R35, features circumferential grooves that dissipate heat to run cooler, enabling long-haul capabilities at job sites, according to Nash. A directional tread pattern improves self-cleaning for increased traction while deep, wide grooves help expel mud and dirt for a better bite.
The RB42 comes in sizes 1800R33 and 2400R35 and presents a zig-zag groove pattern that provides enhanced traction on muddy and rocky surfaces as large center blocks increase resistance to cuts and delivers longer overall wear, he notes.
Nash says both tires feature an extra-durable casing and a deep flush tread. The two tires also have steel cord belts to guard against tread punctures and buttress side protection that protects the sidewalls from snags and cuts.
