Titan is plowing ahead with its Goodyear-labeled DT 930 1100/45R46 for agricultural apparatus. The new tire was highlighted during the recent National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky.

Titan manufactures the Goodyear Farm Tires line, and the latest release is designed with a low sidewall aspect ratio for added stability to move combines and other equipment through soft, muddy fields.

“The DT 930 tires proved themselves this fall in the wet fields of Illinois,” says Titan Chairman and CEO Maurice M. Taylor Jr. “The wide, deep lugs provide excellent flotation, which enables the user to harvest his [or her] crops,” he explains.

“These tires were able to power through muddy fields that narrower dualed tires could not,” Taylor reports. It has already been approved by equipment manufacturer AGCO for use on Challenger tractors.

The DT 930 provides high torque transmission and reduces compaction in the field, while its low sidewall provides stability on side slopes, according to Taylor. “The tire is agriculture’s largest radial, standing at 85 inches tall and almost four feet wide, and is designed to reduce vehicle bounce, loping and power hop.”

Tire-to-rim slippage is minimized when mounted on a large 46-inch Titan wheel, he says. “Flotation can be maximized when dualed on four-wheel drive and mechanical front wheel drive tractors,” adds Taylor, noting how it can be used in place of narrower dual rear tractor tires when applied to appropriately sized rim.

Titan produces wheels, tires and assemblies for off-highway equipment used in agricultural, earthmoving/construction and consumer-oriented all terrain vehicles.
