Dick Gust is more than ready to roll as co-chairman at the newly-formed Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) of the Tire Industry Association (TIA).
In his role with the EAC, Gust – president of national accounts at Pittsburgh-based Liberty Tire Recycling – will help oversee the 12-member organization as it provides strategic information, advisory services, educational programs and governmental assistance to promote green operations and environmental awareness throughout the tire industry.
“Dick is truly an advocate for green practices and initiatives within the tire industry, and we are proud of his recent appointment to the EAC,” says Jeffrey Kendall, Liberty’s chairman and CEO.
“Liberty Tire is at the forefront of tire recycling innovation, and we are proud to have employees like Dick who can act as catalysts for change and as advocates for best practices throughout the industry,” Kendall points out.
The EAC replaces the TIA’s Tire and Rubber Recycling Industry Council. The new committee’s stated goals are to encourage TIA members and others in the industry to be more energy efficient in their operations, reduce waste and ensure safety along with reusing, repairing or recycling tires as much as possible.
Gust, a past-president of both the TIA and the former recycling council, is also a 16-year TIA board member.
Previous honors include the Industry Leadership Award from the International Tire and Rubber Association and the Illinois Governor’s Corporate Recycling Award.
