Finally overcoming the widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005, the Firestone Complete Auto Care Center on Carrollton Street in New Orleans has celebrated its gala grand re-opening with a gathering of assorted dignitaries to mark the occasion.

Last summer, a Firestone location on West Judge Perez Drive became the first automotive-oriented Big Easy retailer to restore normal business operations following the massive devastation wreaked by the monster storm, the most costly natural disaster in the nation’s history.

Numerous New Orleans residents have been moving back into the area, and the community is beginning to thrive again, according to Ottis Lewis, south central zone vice president at Bridgestone Retail Operations.

“Since the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it has been (the company’s) goal to reopen this store — we are thrilled to be able to serve this close-knit community once again,” says Lewis.
