Global Resource Corp , a developer of a patent-pending microwave technology and machinery for extracting oil and gas, recently announced it has been awarded the environmental achievement of the year award by Tire Technology International.

The award was made in recognition of Global Resource Corp.'s patent- pending microwave process that can dispose of old tires and at the same time reclaim oil and other petroleum products, which then can be used to produce energy.

The award was announced at the Tire Technology Expo held for tire industry executives in Cologne, Germany. A panel of 15 experts from international companies, universities and major automotive companies chose the winners.

In announcing the award, one jury member, CEO and President Gaetano "Guy" Mannino of Verdek, a consulting and trading company, Rome, Ga., says, "Finally, a use of scrap tires that's a win-win solution for the environment and for the business." Mannino is the ex president of Pirelli North America.

Chairman Frank Pringle of Global Resource Corp. says, "Eliminating pollution-producing scrap tires is an ideal use of Global Resource's revolutionary microwave technology. We appreciate this wonderful endorsement from the Tire Technology Expo's panel of knowledgeable experts on the value of our technology for extracting valuable hydrocarbons from old tires in an emissions-free process."

Pringle notes that this is the latest in a series of awards and acknowledgements of its technology that the company has recently been accorded. In a report released on July 17, the U.S. Department of Energy profiled Global Resource and its microwave technology for oil shale recovery as a company that could possibly help to make the U.S. energy independent.

In addition, Popular Science magazine selected Chairman Frank Pringle as a "Green Tech Innovator" and Global Resource Corp.'s microwave technology as one of its "Best of What's New '07."

Time magazine also selected the company's microwave technology as one of the "Best Inventions of the Year" because of its ability to "pull fuel out of shale rock, tires and even plastic bottles."
