Standards Testing Laboratories (STL) will be conducting its Tire Technology Seminars June 12-14 and Oct. 16-18 at the company’s Massillon, Ohio headquarters.

The sessions are two-and-a-half-day educational events geared toward anyone directly or indirectly involved in the tire industry.

Designed to provide an overview of tire design, construction and performance, the seminars feature an expert team of automotive and tire speakers from the engineering, chemistry and mechanics/vehicle dynamics fields that address topics including tire testing, tire design and research, tire engineering and compounding, product development and advanced concepts.

The Tire Tech course includes an overview on the process of tire manufacturing, including raw materials, techniques and equipment.

In addition, attendees will discuss regulatory and legislative activity, the major service issues facing the industry, the basics of tire uniformity and rolling resistance, as well as an overview of wheels, their types and how they are manufactured and tested.

Participants will also tour the testing labs at STL’s facility for a first-hand look at equipment and methodology, and have the opportunity to participate in open Q&A sessions throughout the course.

The deadline to register for the June class is May 25; the registration deadline for the October class is Sept. 28.

The cost is $975, which includes admission to the conference, all materials, three luncheons, an evening banquet and refreshments throughout the course.

A block of rooms has been reserved at a local hotel.
