Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels is among the
sponsors of the Oct. 29-31 18th Annual Orlando Street
Nationals at Orlando Speed World Dragway.
“Known by many as the longest-running ‘heads-up door-slammer
race’ in the world,” according to motorsports manager Carl
Robinson, the company’s partnership program is focused on
presenting the Outlaw 10.5 and Drag Radial classes.
At the 57th Annual World Series of Drag Racing in August at
Cordova Dragway Park, Paul Romine established a new track
record with a 5.79-second elapsed time while running on
Mickey Thompson ET Drag tires.
Mike Savage, whose Candies & Hughes tribute Barracuda was
also equipped with the company’s ETs, claimed the overall
victory.
The action was witnessed by a crowd of 25,000 fans.
“It was incredible to see these talented competitors perform
on our tires at this event,” Robinson reports. “To celebrate
an event winner and an event record-breaker on our tires as
a single event was very exciting for all of us.”
The company, founded in 1963 by racing legend Mickey
Thompson, is headquartered in Stow, Ohio.
