By 1988, Gardner was selling paint hardeners to more than 100 Maaco body shops. It wasn’t long before he took a huge gamble and sold his highly profitable Maaco shops and devoted himself full-time to running Matrix System.
Now, with nearly 125 employees and more than 400 distributors, Matrix System continues to be a supplier to the PBE market.
According to David Brunori, Executive Vice President, “We have known for over three decades that the industry demanded a lower cost option versus the major paint companies and we were right. In celebration of our 30 years, we have designed a Throwback label for one of our longest standing clearcoats MS-20 High Performance Urethane Clearcoat. The label resembles one of the very first labels we marketed; the “Space Matrix” from the 80s. This is a milestone that we couldn’t have reached without the strong support of our distributors, body shops, or employees. We want to send a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone for making us a trusted part of their lives all these years."
Matrix System is a division of Quest Specialty Coatings.
