Two Industry Suppliers Complete Acquisitions

Jan. 7, 2013

Jan. 7, 2013—A pair of jobbers recently completed accusation agreements that allow each company to expand its operations significantly.

National Coatings & Supplies reached a deal last week to acquire the Grinstead Group and its 12 locations throughout Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia. And on Dec. 31, Wesco Auto Body Supply acquired Automotive Paint Specialties, an eight-location jobber out of Bend, Ore.

CollisionWeek first reported the acquisitions.

For Wesco, a paint, body and equipment jobber headquartered in Mountlake Terrace, Wash., it was the company’s third acquisition in the last 12 months. According to the CollisionWeek report, Wesco also picked up LDI Automotive Paints, Inc., in Tacoma, Wash., and Evergreen Paint, Inc., in Longview, Wash.

The company plans to have Auto Paint Specialties continue to operate under its current name.

Based in North Carolina, National Coatings previously had more than 75 locations in 28 states, distributing paint and body equipment. The new acquisition adds to those services, as Grinstead distributes automotive refinish products and industry coatings from a variety of manufacturers.
