Abernathy’s Auto Body Founder Passes Away

March 28, 2017—Robert M. “Toby” Abernathy Sr., the founder of Abernathy’s Auto Body Inc. in the Philadelphia area, passed away on March 10 while in hospice care in West Chester, Pa.

Abernathy Sr. served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1953-55 before beginning his career in 1956 at an automotive service station in West Grove, Pa. He went on to own and operate several businesses over his 61-year career, including Abernathy’s Auto Body Inc. in Avondale, Pa., which he founded, owned and operated from 1966 until his passing.
