VW Charged with Violating Canadian Environmental Act

Volkswagen allegedly violated emissions standards in Canada.

Dec. 10, 2019—Volkswagen has been charged with 60 counts of breaching the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, according to a report by Reuters.

The automaker was charged with importing cars that did not conform to the emissions standards. The charges included two counts of providing misleading information. The Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is investigating.

News in  2015 that Volkswagen used devices to defeat the effectiveness of the emission control system, have thus far cost the company $33 billion.
