On June 6, National Auto Body Council partnered with Travelers and Caliber Collision to present a refurbished van to Hands On Hartford, a nonprofit organization that addresses food insecurity and homelessness in Hartford, to enable the organization to transport meals and other necessary items to those in need across the state. The van donation was part of the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides program.

The presentation was held at Travelers’ Claim University Auto Lab in Windsor, Connecticut. Travelers donated the vehicle and Caliber Collision technicians volunteered their time and skills to refurbish the van. Hands On Hartford was also surprised with additional food supplies to help the organization continue to feed the community.

NABC Recycled Rides is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council have donated more than 3,000 vehicles valued at some $42 million.

“We drive all over the Hartford area, picking up and delivering food for the folks we serve. This is a huge gift for us, and we are so grateful that Travelers also filled the van to the roof with much needed food,” said Kate Shafer, Director of Partnerships & Support at Hands on Hartford.

”As one of the nation’s largest automotive services providers, Caliber’s purpose is Restoring the Rhythm of Your Life® for our customers, teammates, clients and our neighbors in the communities we serve,” said Todd Dillender, Chief Operating Officer for Caliber Collision. “On behalf of all Caliber teammates, we congratulate and commend Hands on Hartford for the incredible impact they have in restoring the rhythm of life for thousands of local Hartford residents who rely on this organization for basic daily meals.”

Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation included 1-800 Charity Cars LKQ, Copart, Auto Nation, JFB Auto Repair & Tire, SignPro and Connecticut Auto Center.
