The North American introduction of click&go will initially be designated for use with Sikkens clearcoat products. It will be launched in two phases. Packages will be offered in multiple sizes with products that provide choices suitable for a variety of application needs. Phase One click&go will contain a pre-measured portion of Sikkens Autoclear Superior 250 clearcoat plus hardener. This packaging/product combination is intended for businesses in “regulated” markets, in other words, those using Sikkens Autowave. Phase Two click&go is designated for the “national rule” markets. It contains Sikkens Autoclear III and has a projected release scheduled for the close of fourth quarter 2012.

The design enables painters to open the package to combine the clearcoat and hardener. Once the package is closed and shaken it's ready to be secured on the paint gun. AkzoNobel said it will improve productivity, enhance process improvements, and reduce environmental risk and waste.

“Bottom line? Less labor, less product use and absolutely less product waste,” said Kenny Barker, regional manager for Caliber Collision Centers. Caliber’s shops tested the product. “There is no mixing, no measuring, no human factor so the product is consistent every time. If you run out, there is no rush to mix without measuring in order to finish the job due toworries about flash-off and getting product wet again. The efficiency is great.”

“Pouch packaging alternatives are being utilized throughout the world in both consumer and industrial environments,” said Laura Costello, director of marketing for AkzoNobel A&AC. “The ability to transfer those learnings into a tool for the collision repair industry came through the combined efforts of our proficient research & development teams, superior field and technical support as well as our invaluable distribution channel. We anticipate that pouch packaging will be utilized with a number of other A&AC product options to be debuted in 2013.”

click&go is available through members of the AkzoNobel distributor network. For the names and locations of distributors throughout the U.S. and Canada call technical support at (800) 618-1010.
