ASE, a non-profit organization established to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals, partnered with 38 Original Equipment Manufacturers and Aftermarket industry sponsors, including Gates, to recognize outstanding technicians. Award winners in Auto, Truck and Collision categories were selected based on their ASE certification test scores, on-the-job excellence, and community service.

Conner bested thousands of ASE technicians who competed for top honors within the Master Automobile & L1 Technician category. He and other technicians will be honored by ASE at the annual Fall Awards Banquet held this November 13th and 14th in San Antonio, Texas.

Conner has owned Bob’s Big Boys Toys in El Paso, Texas, for 20 years and has been a technician for 34 years. He first became interested in the automotive services when he was 14 years old working for his dad’s full-service gas station. He credits the enjoyment he feels fixing cars and helping others as why he became a technician.

Conner has been married to his wife Fab for nine years. He has three children, Amaris Barker, Gary Ussery, and Franky Burciaga. When he’s not at his shop, he is a martial arts instructor, volunteer Bible educator, and enjoys restoring Mustangs, walking his dogs, spending time at the gym, and riding motorcycles and bicycles.
