CHICAGO – Live from Chicago, it’s…

Well, it’s not “Saturday Night Live,” but the Advanstar Automotive Group News Network – AAGN – is making its presence known at the 2008 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS).

Started earlier this year to showcase the aftermarket in a new format, AAGNN brings the aftermarket events to the people in their stores, shops and offices. This year, video interviews with GAAS speakers and top industry executives have been added to Search-AutoParts.com within minutes of their completion. See 2008 GAAS Videos

That means this year’s GAAS is reaching more people than just those sitting in on the informative sessions.

Kathleen Schmatz, president and CEO of AAIA, (right) waits with AAG vice president Jim Savas for her turn to be interviewed.

"This is the first time that an industry event has been brought to the business-to-business marketplace so quickly with video and articles in a timely and thorough manner," says Jim Savas, vice president of the Advanstar Automotive Group.

TradePro Media is working with AAGNN – which is the broadcast sister of Aftermarket Business – to produce the video. Larry Silvey, group editorial director, has sat down with 30 people throughout GAAS to get their thoughts on the aftermarket today and what it will be tomorrow.

Passersby were able to watch the live interviews in progress, as well as see the video editing being completed onsite and the Web site updated as more live content is added.

In addition to the main interviews, up-to-the-minute coverage has been pumped into the group’s Web sites, including full stories, photos and man-on-the-street – or inside the conference room – video interviews can be found online.

Live video interviews are displayed for passersby to watch.
