Heavy rains and tornado-strength winds left automotive accessory manufacturer Lund International, Inc. with heavy structural and water damage to their Georgia distribution warehouse, but no major service disruptions are expected.

Several sections of the Suwanee-based warehouse’s roof collapsed, and 11 bay doors were destroyed.

“We are extremely thankful that no one was hurt,” says Bob Chapman, Lund’s vice president of operations. “It is fortunate that our warehouse associates were on their 15-minute afternoon break and so not in that area when the collapse occurred.”

After completing a damage assessment at the facility, which manufacturers under the AVS, Lund, Nifty, Deflecta-Shield Aluminum and Belmore brands, contingency plans were executed to keep products moving. “Once we made sure everyone was OK, our next priority was servicing customers,” says Matthew Sturdevant, customer service director. “I’m happy to say we are ‘open for business,’ and expect no major disruptions in order fulfillment.” Headquartered in Suwanee, Lund also has manufacturing facilities in Lawrenceville, Ga.; Hamilton, Ohio; Howe, Ind.; and Chicago, Ill.
