Consolidation among automotive parts manufacturers and distributors is not going to go away any time soon. In fact, it's a growing trend that is here to stay. A case in point is last week's acquisition of Rostra Precision Controls, Inc. by OEM Components and U.S. A. Switch Inc, which will enhance distribution and build new OEM relationships, a company spokesperson says. Thomas P. Petrillo, founder of OEM Components and U.S.A. Switch Inc., teamed with the private equity firm Superior Capital to form Aftermarket Controls Corporation and purchase Rostra Precision Controls. Aftermarket Controls Corp. will be the parent company of OEM Components, U.S.A. Switch Inc. and Rostra Precision Controls. "The synergies between OEM Components' and U.S.A. Switch's deep understanding of the transmission and engine management aftermarket teamed with Rostra's world-class engineering and manufacturing capabilities will allow us to expand our product line, better serve our customers and develop new, exciting opportunities for our supply partners," Petrillo says. OEM Components and U.S.A. Switch, both located in Wixom, Mich., operate several distribution facilities in North America and an international sales office near Miami, Fla. Since its founding in 1992, the company has expanded its product line to more than 2,000 part numbers for both original equipment and aftermarket underhood and drivetrain products.
