Hankook’s enfren eco Eco-Friendly All-Season Performance tire has received the highest rating from the Korea Energy Management Corp.’s Energy Efficiency Grade for Tires based on its rolling resistance – the first-ever achievement for any tire in Korea.

It also set a new standard in Japan for environmentally friendly tires by receiving the highest mark, AAA by rolling resistance, possible under the labeling system measuring the fuel efficiency of tires – a feat no other international tire manufacturer in the marketplace had previously achieved, according to Soo Il Lee, president of Hankook Tire America Corp.

“Our latest advancement, the enfren eco, further demonstrates our commitment to investing in R&D to develop quality, fuel-efficient tires based on our leading technology,” says Lee.

“The enfren eco has clearly exceeded rigorous energy efficiency testing and measurement standards in developed markets around the world,” he reports, “and we are pleased to offer this eco-friendly product to dealers and consumers here in the U.S. so they can also experience the benefits first- hand.”

It was designed specifically for fuel- efficient and hybrid vehicles and features a high silica rubber tread compound that lowers rolling resistance, increases wet and dry handling and helps to improve fuel economy, says Lee. It will be available in the U.S. this spring in eight sizes: 185/65R15H, 195/60R15H, 195/65R15H, 215/60R16H, 205/55R16H, 195/55R16V, 215/45R17V and 205/65R16H.
