Hankook opens new educational cenHankook has established a Global Education Center in South Korea to collaborate on new ideas while fostering the company’s current production systems.
“The center is expected to play a pivotal role in standardizing the high-quality level at Hankook Tire to provide cutting-edge products to all our global customers,” reports Jae-Ryong Yoon, executive vice president of production and engineering.
Located at Hankook’s Daejeon plant, the center is intended to enhance the capabilities of employees for management and production posts at factories in Korea, China and Hungary along with additional facilities to be established in the future.
The purpose is to strengthen the firm’s global production network and enhance high standards of production quality.
The center can accommodate about 250 trainees a day and has seven indoor and outdoor training areas with the latest educational materials and equipment. It also has a large auditorium, a computer room, a lounge, lodgings, and other facilities.
The indoor facility has practice rooms for training on machines and other equipment, plus models and 3D simulation. Training will be conducted using videos and miniature models. Added practical training will be provided at the outdoor areas.
Theoretical study opportunities will be available in a library of specialized books about manufacturing and other reference materials.
About 60 rooms for lodging at the center have been completed to provide comfortable accommodations.
Hankook invests about 5 percent of its revenue in research and development. Selling in more than 180 countries, it has 14,000-plus employees; some 70 percent of sales originate through the company’s overseas operations.
