Cameron Steele, a longtime Yokohama-sponsored off-road racer, has captured his second consecutive SNORE (Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts) Unlimited Truck Class championship by winning the Dec. 12-13 Rage at the River season finale in Laughlin, Nev.
Steele and his Desert Assassins teammate Josh Daniel both won their respective classes and finished 1-2 overall among all the racers competing in the event.
Steele, driving his 800-horsepower Geiser Bros. Chevrolet truck mounted with specially-engineered 37-inch Geolandar A/T-S R tires, earned the SNORE Unlimited Truck season title by taking the race in 2:10.27.
Daniel, also running on the Geolandars, won the Unlimited Class in 2:01.41.
Other Yokohama/Desert Assassin-sponsored drivers who won their classes were Adam Ashcraft in Class 10 (2:16.02) and Pat Dailey in Class 5/1600 (2:13.45). Both raced on Super Digger tires.
Justin “Bean” Smith, who was also riding on Super Diggers, secured a second-place spot in the Class 12 contest with a time of 2:20.50. The finish earned Smith the Class 12 season title.
“Nice way to end the season,” says Steele, a two-time SCORE (Southern California Off-Road Enthusiasts) Person of the Year and television commentator. “I’ve got to keep up with my wife,” he quips, referring to Yokohama-sponsored Heidi Steele, who recently won the Baja 1000 and her second consecutive SCORE championship.
