Nikolai Setzer is now overseeing Continental’s car and light truck tire operations following the resignation of Dr. Alan Hippe, who had been vice chairman of the executive board, chief financial officer and head of parent-company Continental AG’s rubber products division.
Setzer, 37, will also continue to manage the replacement tire division in Europe and Africa.
“Long years of service (in worldwide tire operations) have endowed Nikolai Setzer with very broad expertise in the car and tire markets, as well as detailed technical know-how in the area of tires,” says CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann. “This will provide him a good basis for guiding the company’s global original equipment and replacement business activities through the currently difficult market situation.”
Since joining Continental in 1997, Setzer has held various posts within the tire division, including key account management in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Previously he was in charge of automotive tire research and development plus original equipment activities. He was graduated from the Universität Darmstadt with a degree in industrial engineering.
Continental has close to 146,500 employees working at 200 locations in 36 countries.
