March 8, 2011 — The Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) recently hired Arthur Harris as its new administrator.

The DEG, created and maintained by the Automotive Service Association (ASA), Alliance of Automotive Service Providers (AASP) and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS), is an initiative that enables users of estimating databases to send feedback to information providers.

Harris, a 23-year veteran of the automotive industry, will serve as an independent contractor to administer the project, oversee its website and interact with information providers and estimating end-users, according to the DEG. He will also be responsible for building awareness of the DEG’s brand image and purpose.

“With as long as I have been working with estimates in the repair facilities I've worked for, I know how many challenges are faced during the estimate process as vehicles become more complex,” Harris said. “The estimate data is such a critical component in the overall repair process, and I am excited at the potential the DEG has to bring real world feedback from the shop floor to the information providers.”

The project’s joint operating committee chose Harris from a large pool of qualified applicants.

“While the DEG has always been a technology-driven solution, we look forward to working with Arthur to further innovate to increase the value we offer to our end-users and amplify the DEG's offerings to the industry even further,” said Todd Stadler a member of the joint operating committee.
