SEMA announces hottest vehicles of 2012

Nov. 2, 2012

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 2, 2012—SEMA this week presented awards for the hottest vehicles of 2012 during the 2012 SEMA Show.

SEMA’s hottest vehicle award honors vehicles that specialty-equipment manufacturers believe are the best platforms for accessorizing, and that showcase this year’s coolest products. The award recognizes vehicle models in four categories.

The awards categories and winners are as follows:

• The Ford Mustang won the Hottest Car award.
• The Scion FR-S won the Hottest Sport Compact Car award.
• The Ford F-Series won the Hottest Truck award.
• The Jeep Wrangler won the Hottest 4x4-SUV award.

"The SEMA Show has always been about innovative products and trends. The SEMA award amplifies the industry's special ability to identify and set trends that consumers follow,” said Chris Kersting, president and CEO of SEMA. "The SEMA award helps guide consumers toward the hottest-trending and most accessory-friendly vehicles on the market. Our SEMA Show exhibitors are industry visionaries who determine the winners of the SEMA award based on the vehicles they showcase in their booths. Each booth vehicle represents a ‘vote' and the most prominent models in each category are the winners."

Organizers of the 2012 SEMA Show said the event features more than 2,000 exhibiting companies that manufacture thousands of products designed to improve vehicle performance, safety, convenience, appearance and comfort. Products are available for every vehicle make and model, but SEMA organizers said exhibitors are investing more in the Ford Mustang, Scion FR-S, Ford F-Series and Jeep Wrangler compared to any other vehicle.
