Report: Vehicles with Best Safety Braking and Handling

April 11, 2016—Consumer Reports released a report Friday of what it called the the best-handling and best-braking vehicles, qualities which help prevent collisions. 

Top five braking models from 60 mph: 

  • Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 3LT: 107 feet
  • Porsche 911 Carrera S: 108 feet 
  • Porsche Boxster: 112 feet
  • BMW M235i 115 feet
  • Maserati Ghibli S Q4: 115 feet

Worst-braking models from 60 mph:

  • Toyota Tundra SR5: 153 feet
  • Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara: 157 feet

Top five avoidance maneuvering: 

  • Porsche 911 Carrera S: 59.5 mph
  • Subaru Impreza WRX Premium: 59 mph
  • BMW M235i: 58.5 mph
  • Nissan 370Z Touring: 58 mph
  • Porsche Boxster: 58 mph 

Worst avoidance maneuvering: 

  • Mercedes-Benz GL350 BlueTec: 44.5 mph
  • Toyota Tundra SR5: 44.5 mph
