Family owned and operated Glaser’s Collision Centers is celebrating auto body technician Jerry Johnson’s 25th year with the auto body shop, according to a press release. Although Johnson celebrates 25 years at Glaser’s, he has been in the business for over 40 years.

“My interest in body work started when I was 13 years old. I visited the body shop where my dad’s car was being repaired and thought all the tools were really cool,” stated Johnson.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Johnson said he made the decision when he was in high school to work through a school co-op for auto body repairs. After graduating from the co-op program, he took his first job working on semi-trucks at Franck Brothers.

Years later, he met owner Gene Glaser and Johnson knew Glaser’s Collision Centers would be the place from which he’d retire. He connected immediately with Glaser’s attitude, work ethic and the hard work he displayed.

“Jerry has always been a leader and had the shops best interest in mind through the years”, reminisced retired Owner Gene Glaser. “He started in 1998 as a tech and now in 2023, he is a friend.”

Johnson’s career at Glaser’s included leading a training program for up-and-coming auto body techs. Johnson has been known for keeping up with the constant changes of the collision industry and helping others learn the best repair methods.

“One of these days, I will retire and will enjoy not doing body work. But the hard work and shop atmosphere has always sustained my interest over the many years I’ve been in the business,” Johnson said.

In his free time, Johnson enjoys working on his farm with horses, chickens, dogs and a big vegetable garden. He has one son and a granddaughter.

Glaser’s Collison Center is a family-owned business serving the Louisville, Kentucky area for over 35 years. They have four locations in Kentucky: Jeffersontown, Bullitt County, Louisville, and South Louisville. For more information, visit www.glaserscollision.com.
