With five locations throughout Connecticut, the family owned Modern Tire and Auto Service Center, which was established in 1941, is finding success with a new business management software program.

Implementation of the VAST system from Aftersoft has improved pricing, purchasing, organizational and reporting capabilities, according to Robert Amenta, president of the chain’s parent-entity Modern Enterprises, Inc.
Installed at each checkout counter, “VAST provides a very strong POS package that has enabled us to accurately price repair/service orders in a fraction of the time,” Amenta says.
“We can do this on a wide variety of makes and models with utmost confidence. Without VAST our entire quoting process would be significantly slower, which just wouldn’t cut it in today’s fast-paced, competitive marketplace,” he adds.
The program “provides us with many reports that help us organize our business more effectively and efficiently, from time management to parts tracking,” Amenta continues.
“With the proliferation of SKUs to service an increasingly wide variety of vehicles, we are purchasing a significant amount of parts and tires from the ‘outside’ on a daily basis,” he notes. “Tracking where all these purchases are going is tantamount to ensuring the profitability of our business. VAST allows us to zero in on this and numerous other aspects of our business quickly and accurately.”
Being able to connect and communicate via e-commerce with the supply chain is a key benefit cited by Amenta.
“The ability to set up links directly with our vendors and streamline our purchase cycle, from parts acquisition to payables, has proved invaluable,” he reports, adding that other plusses are becoming apparent as well.
“I expect that we will become further integrated with our vendors and customers through the implementation of VAST’s continual enhancements,” says Amenta. “I also expect continued efficiencies that will allow us to become even more productive with the same staff.”
