Registrations of imported vehicles down last year in China's Guangdong Province

The number of imported vehicles registered in China?s Guangdong Province declined slightly in 2009, with Shenzhen seeing the biggest drop.

The number of imported vehicles registered in China’s Guangdong Province declined slightly in 2009, with Shenzhen seeing the biggest drop.

However, its capital city, Guangzhou, saw its number of registrations jump 24.1 percent year-on-year to 10,931 units, replacing Shenzhen as the province’s largest market for imported vehicles.

Of all the imported brands, BMW increased the most last year with a growth rate of 71.6 percent, followed by Mercedes-Benz (50.8 percent) and Lexus (22.0 percent). Registrations for Toyota- and Mitsubishi Motor- made cars both saw large drops.
