3M to Acquire Bondo Corporation

3M said yesterday that it would acquire automotive parts maker Bondo Corporation to complement the Minnesota company's own automotive-related business. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
3M said yesterday that it would acquire automotive parts maker Bondo Corporation to complement the Minnesota company's own automotive-related business. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"The addition of Bondo enhances our professional and retail auto body product lines," said Ian Hardgrove, vice president and general manager of the 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division.

Bondo products including body filler, fiberglass repair materials, under coatings and adhesives are sold to the auto body repair market through auto paint specialty stores, mass merchandisers and auto parts retailers.

"3M's global infrastructure, technology and product development expertise will further build and expand our well-known brands," said Pat Formica, president of Bondo Corporation, which is based in Atlanta. Bondo currently employs approximately 160 people in the Atlanta area.

3M is a diversified manufacturer known for its Post-it, Scotchgard, Thinsulate, Scotch-Brite and Filtrete brands and films for LCD television screens.
