The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) announced that eBay, Inc. has joined the Association and is the most recent associate member of ARA. With more than 124 million users globally, eBay is one of the world's largest online marketplaces. eBay Motors is the Internet's largest marketplace for buying and selling all things automotive. Nearly 4.5 million new and used vehicles have sold on eBay Motors, and there are more than 22 million automotive parts and accessories available on eBay Motors at any given time.
"We are pleased that eBay has joined the ARA," said CEO Michael E. Wilson. "For years, professional automotive recyclers have utilized the global presence of eBay and eBay Motors to increase sales of recycled OEM automotive parts in today's ever expanding automotive parts marketplace. We look forward to working closer with eBay and other industry partners on initiatives that open even more markets for our 4,500 members to sell quality, recycled OEM parts to consumers around the world."
ARA strives to provide its members with the necessary training, tools and techniques to compete in the competitive automotive marketplace. Inclusion of OEM recycled automotive parts in the online market is crucial to the continued success and growth of the professional automotive recycling industry.
"We recognize the value of ARA standards and protocols and their role in facilitating electronic commerce," said eBay Program Manager Mary Hubbard. "These programs can help quantify a level of performance that automotive consumers and the repair community can expect. We are excited to officially join the ARA and be part of an organization whose members deliver such high quality, recycled OEM parts -- parts that provide eBay Motors users a positive experience."
Since 1943, the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) represents an industry dedicated to the efficient removal and reuse of “green” automotive parts, and the proper recycling of inoperable motor vehicles. ARA represents the interests of over 4,500 auto recycling facilities in the United States and fourteen other countries around the world. With programs such as the Certified Automotive Recycler Program (CAR), Green Recycled Parts, and other partnerships, ARA members continue to provide consumers with quality, low-cost alternatives for vehicle replacement parts, while preserving our environment for a “greener” tomorrow.
