BASF’s John Shoemaker, Business Development Manager for BASF Automotive Refinish Coatings, will teach a course on damage assessment at the inaugural Carolina’s Educational Collision Conference (CECC) on Saturday, May 18 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., held at the Cabarrus Arena in Concord, North Carolina.

The course, Damage Assessment Documentation: Key Steps for Maximum Reimbursement, will cover step-by-step documentation tips to help shops gain maximum reimbursement on scanning, related damage, measuring and structure repair time, adhesives and corrosion protection, mechanical repairs, tire documentation requirements, and refinish operations like four-stage paint. Shoemaker’s course is certified by the Automotive Management Institute (AMi) and attendees will receive four AMi credits. Shoemaker will also offer successful reimbursement processes for frequently challenged guidelines such as OEM repair procedures, recognized SOPs from 3M, information from DEG inquiries and missed operations identified in the SCRS Guide to Complete Repair Planning. “Educating our customers on how to properly document damage assessment is imperative,” said Jane Niemi, Market Sector Manager for BASF Refinish. “The takeaway from this class will truly benefit customers, helping them make sure this part of their business is operating as efficiently as possible.” The conference will run for two days from May 18-19 and is expected to be the largest educational event for collision repair industry professionals in the Carolinas. Along with classes and seminars from industry-leading speakers, there will also be vendors, giveaways, auctions and food all around NASCAR All-Star Race weekend.
