Car West Auto Body and Farmers Insurance presented a 2005 Mazda 6 to a local Bay Area family in need on Sunday, October 6 at the Family Community Church in San Jose, Calif. Approximately 3000 people attended this live presentation that was streamed all over the media worldwide. With the collaborative generosity of the Family Community Church, Farmers Insurance Claims department of Northern California, Farmers Agent John Williams of San Jose, Hertz and LKQ, a former homeless family was surprised with a car.
“Many of us are more fortunate than others and have never been in a position where we have no place to go, sleep or eat,” states Craig Moe, President of Car West Auto Body. “It is imperative that we all give a little because the little that we give can mean the world to another’s life.”
Prior to being helped by the Family Community Church, the once homeless Rafidi family found refuge in their beaten to near death car and local camp sites as a result of abrupt job and income loss. They stabilized their lives with new jobs and a new home this past year with the help of the Family Community Church. Just when they thought their lives have taken a full turn, they are rendered speechless with a new vehicle supplied with insurance coverage and gas card for six months.
The Rafidi’s powerful life story is one of many in the community. Organizations working together to lend a hand to the needy in the community shows the empowerment of unity. A gift such as a car will enable the Rafidis’ to live easier and provide them opportunity to be active members in the community.
