CIC votes against new meeting date to coincide with NACE

Jan. 20, 2010

Jan. 20, 2010--Collision Industry Conference (CIC) attendees voted to hold the group's November 2010 meeting as scheduled, rather than sync it up with the new October date for the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) event in Las Vegas.

The November CIC meeting historically has been held the day before NACE, but NACE’s move to Oct. 10-13 created scheduling problems for CIC.

“NACE is scheduled to run Sunday through Wednesday this year,” said Russell Thrall III, chairman of CIC. “That would cause the CIC meeting to be held Thursday, forcing other meetings in conjunction with CIC to be held Friday. Friday meetings are not ideal for participants’ travel schedules.”

But it was a close vote, with a margin of only about a half dozen, Thrall added. CIC members voted at its general meeting Jan. 13-15 in Palm Springs, Calif.

The decision applies to CIC’s November 2010 meeting only. CIC members will vote again next January regarding its November 2011 meeting, according to Thrall.

The November 2010 meeting will be held Nov. 2 in Las Vegas.
