March 3, 2010—Chicago-based Erie-LaSalle Body Shop raised more than $16,000 for Partners in Health with its “A Night in Support of Haiti” event Feb. 26.

The event was part of Erie-LaSalle Body Shop’s 75th anniversary.

About 400 people were present at Martini Park in Chicago for the event, including Illinois Governor Pat Quinn.

Raffle tickets were sold to help raise donations. Prizes included a one-hour flight in an L-39 fighter jet, restaurant gift certificates, a laptop computer and a personal training session.

“We’re very pleased that so many people came to show their support for Haiti as well as Erie-LaSalle,” said Bob Gottfred, owner of Erie-LaSalle Body Shop. “It’s an honor to have been in business in Chicago for 75 years, and we’re happy to share that with the community.”

Partners in Health is an organization that brings medical care to poor communities in 12 countries worldwide. It has worked in Haiti for more than 20 years.
