IAA Exec Nominated to Illinois SkillsUSA Board

March 25, 2014—Don Hermanek, the senior vice president and chief client officer of Insurance Auto Auctions Inc. (IAA), has been named to the board of directors of the Illinois Association of SkillsUSA for a two-year term, IAA announced Monday.

Hermanek is a 35-plus-year veteran of the automotive claims and salvage industry. In this role, Hermanek will work with the board to lead local initiatives in the state that will further the association's mission of developing leaders for tomorrow and ensuring America's skilled workforce.

"A central part of IAA's mission is giving back to the communities we serve and we are proud that members of our senior leadership team have dedicated themselves to causes such as this," said John Kett, president of IAA and a committee member of SkillsUSA's Youth Development Foundation. "IAA has been a longtime supporter of SkillsUSA and its local affiliates and Don is among our executives who are actively involved in this cause. We congratulate Don on his appointment and his continued efforts in advocating for training and education in the industry."

Illinois SkillsUSA, a state affiliated association of the national SkillsUSA, serves high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in technical, skilled and service occupations. Illinois SkillsUSA has approximately 3,500 members in chapters throughout the state. As a member of the Illinois SkillsUSA Board of Directors, Hermanek will help to reorganize the board to better serve its more than 70 chapters across the state. The board will also be responsible for highlighting SkillsUSA opportunities for high school and college students in Illinois and creating programs for the association to better enhance the communication between volunteers and schools.
