Nissan takes “Drive Electric Tour” to 26 U.S. cities

July 8, 2011—Nissan North America Inc. is bringing test drives for the all-electric Nissan LEAF to 26 cities across the United States as part of the company’s "Drive Electric Tour."

The tour gives prospective LEAF owners the opportunity to learn about the car, its technology and features, and take it for a test drive. Current owners are invited to participate and share their ownership experiences with others interested in electric-vehicle technology, according to Nissan.

The tour, first launched in October 2010, provided about 50,000 Nissan LEAF test drives in key markets throughout the United States through March 27. Nissan is resuming the tour with a combination of new cities and return stops, beginning in Long Island, N.Y., July 8-10. The tour will stop in 25 other cities through January 2012, including:

• Boston: July 29-31
• Washington, D.C.: Aug. 5-7
• Philadelphia: Aug. 12-14
• Detroit: Aug. 19-21
• Chicago: Aug. 26-28
• Indianapolis: Sept. 2-4
• Memphis, Tenn.: Sept. 9-11
• Columbus, Ohio: Sept. 16-18
• Denver: Sept.: 23-25
• Santa Monica, Calif.: Sept. 30-Oct. 2
• Los Angeles: Oct. 7-9
• Houston: Oct. 14-16
• Dallas: Oct. 21-23
• Phoenix: Oct. 28-30
• Las Vegas: Nov. 4-6
• San Diego: Nov. 11-13
• San Francisco: Nov. 18-27
• Portland, Ore.: Dec. 2-4
• Seattle: Dec. 9-11
• Austin, Texas: Jan. 6-8
• Atlanta: Jan. 13-15
• Orlando, Fla.: Jan. 20-22

"As the Nissan LEAF gains momentum in its U.S. rollout, more consumers have expressed the desire to get behind the wheel and experience gas-free driving for themselves," said Jon Brancheau, vice president of marketing for Nissan North America. "We're thrilled to bring the 'Drive Electric Tour' to new cities across the country, as well as revisit several key markets where consumer interest continues to grow."

Nissan touts the LEAF as the first 100 percent electric, zero-emission vehicle available to the mass market. More than 4,000 LEAFs have sold in the United States since its launch in December 2010. The vehicle is currently available in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Tennessee, Texas, Oregon and Washington, with additional markets launching later this year.
