June 20, 2019—BP has urged the head of the U.S Environmental Protection Agency to keep working with automakers to improve vehicle fuel efficiency, reported Reuters.

BP's announcement comes as the Trump administration considers eventually freezing requirements at 2020 levels.

BP said it appreciates the need to balance efficiency with vehicle safety and affordability. The company also said it wanted to find a path that balances these issues and continues efficiency improvements already seen in engines.
