Subaru Introduces its First Plug-In Hybrid

The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid will use the company's four-cylinder direct-injection Boxer engine, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a new transmission and Toyota's hybrid system.

May 21, 2018—Subaru introduced its first plug-in hybrid car, the Subaru Crosstek PHEV, reported Clean Technica.

The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid uses the company's four-cylinder direct-injection Boxer engine, symmetrical all-wheel drive, an all-new transmission and Toyota's hybrid system (THS), according to the report.

According to Clean Technica, this is Subaru's approach into the electric vehicle world by introducing a hybrid first, followed by a PHEV and then an electric vehicle.
