Mazda Issues Recall Over Air Bag Concerns

Dec. 2, 2019—Mazda is recalling about 117,000 vehicles from 2003-12 model years to replace passenger-side air bags previously installed as a temporary fix to the deadly risk posed by Takata-sourced air bags, per a report by Consumer Reports.

 Mazda replaced the Takata air bags that had the potential to launch shrapnel on deployment. Those replacement air bags didn't have the moisture-preventing desiccant that inflators would need for them to be effective over the years.

Owners are encouraged to follow through with these recalls, even if they had the air bags replaced previously.
