Jerry’s Abra Auto Body & Glass in Mankato, Minnesota, has made a $5,100 donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, according to a press release.
A partnership between Jerry’s Abra and the Mankato MoonDogs Summer Collegiate baseball team serves as the origin of the donation. Jerry’s Abra committed to making a $100 donation for each home run the team scored.
This year, the team scored 51 home runs, adding up to a total of $5,100 being donated to fund research, care, and advocacy efforts toward ending Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Twenty-five of these home runs were hit on the MoonDogs' home field, but Jerry’s Abra decided this year to donate for every home run, regardless of where it happened.
“Having watched my grandmother, mother and many other family members and a friend live with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, I understand what this terrible disease can do to a person and their family,” said Jerry’s Abra Auto Body & Glass Chief Financial Officer Geralynn Kottschade. “The Alzheimer’s Association is leading the way in finding a cure and I truly hope in my lifetime I am able to meet the first survivor.”
