Schaefer Autobody Centers will be holding the annual David Ian Charity Golf Tournament again this year, according to a press release.
The event will take place at Greenbriar Hills Country Club in Kirkwood, Missouri on September 25. It was first created to benefit families affected by illness at St. Louis Children's Hospital after Schaefer Autobody Centers Owner Scott Schaefer lost his own son, David, from severe birth defects following his birth.
The event is held every September to honor David’s memory. Last year, a record of $75,000 was fundraised at the event.
The event will begin that morning with a Helicopter Ball Drop, where a helicopter flying above will drop hundreds of numbered golf balls. Those planning to attend may pay to claim a group of golf ball numbers–revealed to them via email before the event–and can win up to $3,500 in cash prizes if one of their numbers lands closest to the designated pin.
Golf foursomes for the event sold out weeks ago, and over two dozen companies are sponsoring the event. Anyone interested in participating in the Helicopter Ball Drop or other events being held are welcome to attend.
Those participating in the golf tournament will play 18 holes of golf before having the opportunity to attend a dinner with additional raffles and recognitions.
“This amazing tournament would not be possible without the incredible support we receive from golfers, the community and local businesses,” said Eleece Aliano of Schaefer Autobody Centers’ Marketing Department. “We’re excited to up the ante on the amount raised this year.”
