June 25, 2018—85 Collision Concepts, an independent body shop in Ozone Park, N.Y., has come under fire from local media after failing to repair several vehicles in a reasonable amount of time.

Two area drivers involved in the same accident, Ella Scott and Shanelle Lock, had their vehicles towed to 85 Collision Concepts on March 25, and since has repeatedly told Scott that it has been waiting on repairs. According to a report from Spectrum News, Scott returned to the body shop nine weeks after the accident only to find her Cadillac sitting in a neighboring scrap yard lot.

According to the report, the insurance companies paid the shop in April—Allstate paid in full more than $15,000 and Liberty Mutual paid slightly more than $10,000.

“You get excuse after excuse,” Lock said. “It was supposed to be ready in April.”

The report from Spectrum was actually on update on a story from June 8, when Scott originally spoke with the news station about her delayed repairs.

Court records about 85 Collision Concepts’ operator, Stephanie Davino, show she was criminally charged in 2015 when she failed to pay sales taxes on $1.4 million worth of repair work performed over a two year period when she was running another auto body shop—called A&W Collision—from the same garage.

FenderBender was informed that Davino no longer works for 85 Collision Concepts. The shop then declined to comment for the story.
