Oct. 10, 2016—The winners of the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Competition (AGTO) and the GlasWeld Windshield Competition (WRO) were announced on Friday night in San Antonio as part of Auto Glass Week.
Among the winners were: Desmonde Ellington (of Glasspro Inc. in Mount Pleasant, S.C.; large-size company division) and Alfredo Calva (Alfredo’s Auto Glass in Corona, Calif.; regular-size company division). Baulio Lopez of Spain-based Cristalbox Express took the gold in the WRO.
AGTO judges also awarded an innovation honor to Sergio Ricardo Tamachunas of Sao Paulo, Brazil, for utilizing a full fender cover that wraps around the entire front of the vehicle, thus adding comprehensive protection during the windshield replacement process. Additionally, AGTO judges recognized Brandon Tow of Grand Junction, Colo., with an ingenuity award for his parts storage system, allowing for quick and easy storage of removal tools.
