Bridgestone has been honored by the Car Care Council with a
pair of Automotive Communication Awards for the company's
driver safety education initiatives and Car Care Academy
program.
The presentation will be held during the Council's Women's
Board reception on Nov. 2 during Automotive Aftermarket
Industry Week (AAIW) in Las Vegas.
Bridgestone Vice President Dan MacDonald says "we're committed
to educating all drivers, especially new drivers, about
driving safety," adding that "we're honored to receive this
recognition for our efforts."
The Car Care Council Women's Board and the Automotive
Communication Council annually salutes the efforts of
companies that proactively provide automotive information to
their customers throughout the year.
Bridgestone is being honored for its public relations efforts
surrounding its driver safety education programs, including
Safety Scholars (safetyscholars.com), a web-based video
scholarship contest, and Teens Drive Smart
(teensdrivesmart.com), an online teen driver safety education
resource. The company also supports general driver safety
education through tiresafety.com and by serving as title
sponsor of Driver's Edge, a hands-on driver education program
for teen drivers.

"We believe that an educated consumer is a confident
customer," says Vicky Condell, Bridgestone's director of
public affairs "We are dedicated to bringing vehicle knowledge
to drivers in communities both big and small."
Car Care Academy, launched nearly 40 years ago, teaches
motorists how to save time and money by taking simple steps to
keep their vehicles running newer, longer. The company has
expanded the program beyond the free, in-person Car Care
Academies into "a comprehensive, multi-faceted advocacy
campaign dedicated to informing the public about proper
vehicle maintenance and safety in a variety of venues,"
according to Condell.
