Graduates in the automotive industry have a whole host of jobs awaiting them. One such company, Shelby Automobiles, Inc., which builds high-performance, limited-production supercars such as the Shelby GT and Shelby GT500KR, has sought WyoTech graduates for a wide variety of positions. Shelby currently employs more than a half dozen Laramie campus WyoTech graduates in production line, research and development, fabrication and prototype work. Graduates explain that their WyoTech training not only helped them obtain the positions at Shelby, but also prepared them for future success.
When asked about the importance of his WyoTech training in his career success, Chris Wolke, a May ’06 graduate and Shelby line tech says, “It was very important – my training made my transition into the work field a lot smoother by giving me the skills and self-confidence I needed for the job I wanted.”
John LaVertue, a June ’07 graduate of WyoTech and Shelby Engine shop tech states, “My WyoTech education gave me the training I needed for my job. I have full usage of the Cobra shop here at Shelby Automotive where the Shelby Cobras are made by hand. It has always been my dream to work in that shop.” LaVertue adds. “I’ve always expected to enter the automotive field, and WyoTech and Shelby have put me where I want to be, doing what I love to do.”
The graduates also explain how WyoTech will impact their future careers in the automotive industry. Richard Rivera, December ’06 graduate and Shelby line inspector, says, “WyoTech changed my life forever. The career path in the automotive industry changes constantly and you need to keep learning. WyoTech gave me the drive to do just that.”
Jeremy Roberts, a March ’06 graduate and Shelby line tech and trainer summed it up, saying, “WyoTech offered the complete package for me. It was not just about the tools and how to use them.
