The Automotive Service Association (ASA) will host four new Service Information Workshops in Florida. These workshops are designed to educate shop owners and technicians about the numerous service information sources available to automotive repair shops. Free workshops will be Aug. 26, in Tallahassee at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites; Aug. 27, in Orlando at the Renaissance Orlando Hotel Airport, and in Tampa at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Tampa/Rocky Point Island; and Aug. 28, in Fort Lauderdale at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Hotel. Additional information, such as times, addresses and driving directions, is available online at www.ASAshop.org/KEYS. “You won’t know what you don’t know … until you go,” says Bill Haas, ASA’s vice president of education and training. “The feedback we’ve received from attendees of previous workshops always indicates they learned something new – even the seasoned veterans with Internet experience.” ASA believes the current voluntary, industry-supported service information process protects independent repairers and consumers by allowing them access to the same information available to manufacturers and dealers. These workshops are part of ASA’s efforts to educate shop owners and technicians about current systems and how they can manage the many service information options available to them. The educational agenda includes discussions on computers and Internet resources necessary to access service information; manufacturer and third-party Web sites; diagnostic tools that may assist in handling a repair most efficiently; and the role of the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF). Attendees are encouraged to ask questions to address specific service information issues they have experienced. Attendees are also eligible to participate in drawings for training videos and subscriptions to OEM service information Web sites. Additional workshops are scheduled for Delaware, Nevada and New Mexico. For specific dates, locations and times, visit www.ASAshop.org/KEYS. |
