AkzoNobel Automotive & Aerospace Coatings
Americas for the second year presented the
collision repair industries “FIT” Sustainability
Award in Salt Lake City before an audience of
approximately 100 collision industry members.
Receiving the 2011 award were Mark’s Auto Body
Ltd. of British Columbia, Canada; Moody’s
Collision Centers in Gorham, Maine; and
Lafontaine Automotive Group in Highland, Mich.
The “FIT” Award centers on the use of three key
attributes: Focus, Innovation and Talent. It is
the industry’s first recognition for visionary
organizations that are incorporating business
practices which meet the needs of the present
without compromising the needs of the future.
This award was created to promote the leadership
role and unique contributions which the
collision repair industry is making to generate
a more sustainable future.
Keynote speaker for the 2011 program was Dr.
Deborah Steketee. Dr. Steketee is Associate
Professor of Sustainable Business and Executive
Director, Center for Sustainability at Aquinas
College in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Mike Shesterkin Director of Sustainability and
New Business Innovations for AkzoNobel
Automotive & Aerospace Coatings Americas noted,
“AkzoNobel took a first step in 2010 when we
created this initiative and honored our first
recipients. Our 2011 nominees visibly
demonstrate the marathon nature of creating
sustainable businesses. They are different in
geographic locations, size, scope and focus
regarding initiatives that they are
undertaking.
However; they are alike in that they all
recognize a global need and share a common bond
in their aggressive pursuit to deliver
sustainable environmentally focused business
solutions to the collision repair
industry.”
