The
Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) requires all collision
repair facilities comply with
NESHAP 6H Final
Rule, meaning any technician that applies atomized
coatings must be trained on hazardous airborne pollutant
reduction. The EPA required that facilities comply by
January, 2011. For facilities that missed this deadline,
it is still required and not too late to meet compliance
requirements.
I-CAR offers a
convenient online training option that enables
individuals to meet compliance requirements for the
NESHAP 6H Final Rule. I-CAR’s Hazardous Airborne
Pollutant Reduction (HAP01) online course will help
refinish technicians or managers understand the steps
required for hands-on self certification and grasp the
importance of the EPA NESHAP 6H Final Rule.
Jason Bartanen, I-CAR Technical Director said, “Although
the compliance date has passed, collision repair
facilities are still required to comply. Through not
complying, there is a risk of violating the Clean Air
Act." Bartanen continued, “Knowing how to properly
reduce hazardous material usage will benefit those
working in the inter-industry, both economically and
environmentally.”
Bartanen further added, “I-CAR’s online training option
will enhance an individual’s understanding of how to
protect the environment while minimizing material usage,
as well as meet compliance standards with cost-effective
training.
I-CAR’s Hazardous Airborne Pollutant Reduction (HAP01)
online course is $40 and can be completed 24/7, from an
individual’s home or office. ”
